Terms of Service

Effective 3 July 2026

These terms govern your use of DeskView. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. DeskView is operated by Liko Mpambani, an individual based in South Africa ("DeskView", "we", "us").

1. What DeskView is

DeskView is software that turns your phone into an overhead camera that appears as a camera source in video-calling apps such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. It requires a laptop app, a free third-party tool (OBS) for the one-time camera setup, and a phone on the same Wi-Fi network. DeskView is currently offered as a beta service and is improved on an ongoing basis.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to hold a DeskView account. If a person under 18 uses DeskView, they must do so under the account and supervision of a parent, guardian, or responsible adult who accepts these terms on their behalf.

3. Your account

4. Subscription, trial, and billing

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account page. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current paid period, and you are not billed again. Because a free trial is provided to evaluate the service, subscription charges are non-refundable. See our Refund Policy for full details. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Intellectual property

DeskView, including its software, branding, and content, is owned by us. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use DeskView while your account is in good standing. This licence ends if your account is terminated.

8. Third-party services

DeskView works alongside third-party products such as OBS and video-calling platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet). We are not affiliated with, and are not responsible for, those products. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

9. Disclaimers

DeskView is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. As a beta service, features may change, and occasional interruptions or errors may occur. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeskView will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that harms DeskView or others. You may stop using DeskView and delete your account at any time.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use DeskView after a change means you accept the updated terms.
